Byron Burger's 10th Birthday!


When an email invitation to a birthday party landed in my inbox, I jumped at the chance. Not only because this gal loves a party, but because this gal loves a BURGER party.

Yep, Byron Burger have their 10th Birthday this month, and to celebrate in style, we were invited to their Intu Derby branch to give their menu a spin.

I took my friend Bekki along with me for the ride because she doesn't judge when I over eat - in fact, she joins in, and I like that kind of support.

We sat in the window on a table for two, and ordered some Snapples with nachos and buffalo wings to kick things off.

Crunchy tortillas topped with sour cream, chunky homemade guacamole, salsa, cheese and jalapeños.

I'll be honest and say things peaked with the starters. These buffalo chicken wings were quite honestly the best chicken wings I have ever eaten. Bekki agreed - and this girl made a hobby out of eating chicken wings when she lived in Canada, so if there's anyone's word you should trust, it's hers.

We swapped the blue cheese dip for a chipotle mayo, although the wings were flavoursome enough that they didn't really need a dip. They were crispy, spicy, sticky, and oh so moreish. We're already planning a trip back just to devour some more - next time, we'll order 12 instead of 6. And there will be no sharing.

I'm not sure whether the timings got mixed up, or there was a bit of a misunderstanding, but our burgers came out before we'd really begun to dig in to the starters. That was absolutely fine by us, as we wanted a table full of food to dig into, but perhaps if you don't want everything and once then make sure the staff know this.

We ended up ordering so much food that we had to have our table extended just to fit it all on! I went for the Smoky burger, a medium-rare beef patty topped with mature cheddar, bacon, crispy onions, shredded iceberg, pickles, smoked chilli BBQ sauce. The burger was cooked to perfection, but for some reason it just wasn't ticking my boxes. I think it's because I got food envy looking at Bekki's burger...

Bekki opted for the C-Rex: fried chicken breast, onion ring, bacon, American cheese, jalapeños, pickles, onion, BBQ sauce and mayonnaise. Because of my food envy, I think next time I visit, I'll order the Clucky: fried chicken breast, guacamole, sriracha mayonnaise, pickled red onions, pickles and shredded iceberg. You can also ask for the chicken burgers to be coated in their Buffalo sauce, so if those wings are anything to go by then it goes without saying I'll be adding this to mine!

We decided to accompany our burgers with bacon cheese fries and courgette fries, which were also unbelievably moreish.

Deliberating whether or not we could fit in a dessert, we decided to share an Oreo Freakshake.

Topped with a slab of soft and gooey chocolate brownie, an Oreo biscuit, and delicious vanilla ice cream, we were very thankful we decided to share, as it was quite the feat! We still didn't manage to completely demolish it, but it was nice to have that sweet taste at the end of our meal.
