Autumn/Winter Fashion Showcase at Intu Derby

There’s just something about Autumn and Winter fashion that gets me so unbelievably excited. I think it’s because, living in the UK, we get to appreciate the season to its full potential; coveting layers of thick woolly jumpers and all of the trimmings, whereas in Summer, as much as we want to wear those short shorts and barely-there cami’s, the weather often has other ideas.

I just love seeing how high street brands have taken trends from the runways and put a wearable, affordable spin on things, so when Intu invited me to their Autumn/Winter Fashion Showcase, I couldn’t wait to gather up some inspiration.

When I arrived, I was seated with some other lovely bloggers and bought hot drinks from Patisserie Valerie, and muffins from BB's to munch whilst we enjoy the show.

The shows were every 30 minutes, and each turn showcased outfits from a different store, and there were five main trends:

Purple Rain
As you can imagine, Purple Rain consisted of some gorgeous deep berry tones - one of my favourite colours for Autumn and Winter as I think there's a shade of purple to suit everyone! It's also a top beauty trend of mine, with a deep maroon often being sported on my lips in the colder months.

Animal Print
A classic that can be adapted to the seasons, the Animal Print trend is great for those who love bold patterns and want to jazz up a plain outfit. I'm personally loving leopard print boots or a leopard print mini skirt teamed up with a black roll neck and thick tights.

Midnight Sparkle
The ultimate party season trend! Metallics are everywhere right now and I can't get enough. Although a lot of the pieces we saw were glammed up for evening wear, I love the pleated metallic midi's that are everywhere on the highstreet at the moment as they're such versatile pieces. Wear with a long sleeve tee and pumps during the day, or with a cami and heels for cocktail hour.

The Heritage trend is great for Autumn and Winter, particularly those who love to get out and about and take in the crisp winter air. A super casual, laid back vibe that will keep the chills at bay!

Velvet Dreams
Velvet is one of the top trends of the season; I'm sure you've spotted velvet dresses all over the high street already. Although this is not a trend for everyone, it's great to have that one key piece that will see you through all occasions, so a velvet tee that can either be dressed down with jeans or glammed up with a skirt and heels is a 'must have'.

After watching the shows, we were given some goody bags to take home filled with treats from Intu's brilliant retailers which included an Intu Derby gift card, NYX voucher, Clarins, Dior, No7, Bumble and Bumble and L'Oreal samples provided by Boots, perfume from The Perfume Shop, super cute stationery from Paperchase and Tiger, a Lush catalogue featuring their new products, and some macaroons from Patisserie Valerie to munch on throughout the shows.

And, free car parking. Which is ALWAYS a bonus!

The centre has really stepped up its game in the last year with new additions including Goldsmith's, Cath Kidston, and a new-and-improved Boots store which now includes cosmetics favourite, Nyx. There are also a bunch of new foodie places such as Mexico, Byron Burger and coming soon... CARLUCCIO's (my favourite!) so if you're starting to think about (dare I say it?) Christmas shopping, then Intu is the place to be.

Thanks so much to Intu for having us, as well as the lovely bloggers I met on the day for making it such a fun occasion.
