The One Where We Were On The Telly...18:04
The past 6 months have been quite the whirlwind.
In June, we were approached by a reporter from a local paper, who had heard our story and wanted to share it.
I think people enjoyed the idea of it being an alternative to buying a house: not many young couples would look at it as a serious option, because we've been put under some kind of illusion that bricks and mortar are the be-all-and-end-all. But it was great for us to get our story out there and let other young couples - who may be struggling to get on the property ladder - know that there are other options.
It seemed as though we'd only been on the boat such a short space of time - we were by no means expert boaters, that's for sure! But people were being inspired by our story, and it was overwhelming to be getting such an amazing response.
After our story was in the paper, it was also picked up by the Derbyshire magazine, who even saw it good enough to put us on the cover! Then, it was also in another local paper - I think it was Ashbourne, or somewhere like that.
And THEN... a short while after, we were contacted by Channel 4 - 4oD, who were making a series of documentaries based on peoples relationship to home, and wanted an episode to focus on Rob and I.
After a few days filming, our episode went into production and then in September, it finally appeared online! It's a bit surreal to be honest. But once you get over the cringing and 'is that really what I sound like?', I realised that having a documentary is a pretty cool thing. You can watch it here if you're interested!
I'm hoping to get it put onto a disc at some point so that we can keep it - does anyone know how I'd go about doing that?
